EMRC are consultants and advisers in energy markets, regulation and transaction advisory. EMRC's international team of advisors provide advice and support to regulators, distributors, generators, investors and operators in the power and gas sectors around the world on regulatory, market and commercial issues. We have particular expertise in transaction advice and private sector participation. Our experience in the past few years alone includes supporting bidders for distribution assets in the recent Nigerian power sector privatisation, developing a Privatisation Strategy for Botswana Power Corporation and on the implementation of the first IPPs in Libya.

We work with Governments and policy makers to develop low carbon energy policy objectives - the use of renewable energy, energy efficiency and carbon-reduction strategies - and up to date incentive mechanisms into the regulatory and market frameworks. Within the UK our clients have included the Department of Energy and Climate Change, Ofgem, Scottish Government, regional development agencies and independent investors.

Our mission is to support our clients to face and successfully overcome today’s energy sector challenges leveraging on the broad and deep know-how and firsthand experience of our consultants acquired in high profile consultancy services for private and state owned companies, governments and regulators in more than 40 countries during the last 35 years.

MRC’s experts have developed extensive experience in power system planning, operation, optimization, reliability and security of supply. Framed in this expertise we have been involved in the assessment of Master plans for the power sector including the potential impact and role of the integration of renewable energy generators in the system.

Our firm has been operational since 2010 as the UK and Nigerian businesses of the former Mercados EMI. We changed our name to EMRC in January 2016.
